Steve Cloutier and Piet Schrueders created the non-profit website LeroyShield.com as a tribute to the man, to disperse information about him, and to garner some belated recognition for Leroy Shield's genius. His story demands to be told, because Shield is, simultaneously, one of the best-loved AND least-known American composers.
